Hi, I’m Melanie Faith Dove, the artist behind The Lost Dove. Welcome to my online art gallery dedicated to collectible, limited edition photography.
I’m probably best known as the author and photographer of my books ‘High Country Cattlemen’, ‘Best Mates’ and co-authored, ‘Working Dogs’. For the past 20 years, I’ve been pretty blessed to have traveled and experienced amazing lands and rare cultures and traditions, all in the name of photography. Along the way, I have always collected beautiful, artistic images of Australian scenery and animals.
For me photography has always been a way of life, above and beyond a way of making a living.
I worked for The Age newspaper for over 12 years until 2012, shooting news, features and food for Epicure Magazine. More recently I have been a contributing author and photographer for Outback and Graziher magazine.
I hate doing this, but these days anyone can call themselves a photographer, so just as a demonstration of my moral and ethical camera proficiently, here are a few of my accolades. I’ve won a few decent awards like The National Portrait Gallery’s, ‘People’s Choice Award’ for ‘Face of South Sudan’ in 2013 and also the ‘People’s Choice Award’ in the Monash Gallery of Art’s – Bowness Award for ‘Cowboy Kids’. My portrait ‘Living back home’ was one of only 30 international finalists in New York’s Charlatan Ink Art Prize, 2011.
Whether you’re here to shop for a special piece for yourself or for a gift, I sincerely hope you find a piece that inspires you; a treasure to enjoy for many generations to come.
Alternatively, if you would like to commission a special artwork, request a special print size or find out how to buy wholesale – feel free to contact me for a chat, but be prepared, I know how to talk a lot too!
